When our own nations, yes, our own cultures, even our neighborhoods, yes, and our own homes and families, fail, and then monstrously turn against us — we rely on the reality that our community, our citizenship (from the Greek, politeuma, Philippians 3:20) is in Heaven, and upon earth it is the local church to which we belong, being a vital sector of the kingdom of God.
The true — and real — grimdark is the coming war of biblical Armageddon against the Christians, of which Oct. 7 for the Jews was a little cameo.
Still, it shall turn out to be a eucatastrophe, per Tolkien’s phrase, when the Lord Jesus intervenes, the slaughtered are raised from the dead, and the wicked consigned to the lake of fire.
Hello Lancelot, I apologize if it was off-topic; I figured the author of "Does George R. R. Martin write grimdark?" would have an interest in the MOTHER of all grimdark — and the REAL grim darkness this unholy spiritual harlot is going to foist upon the children of light, in collaboration with a beast empowered by a dragon.
Fictional dystopias are a mirage reflection of what is actually on-the-ground being prepared by the spirit-prince of sorcerers. It's coming, and you're young enough to possibly find yourself in its horrors and atrocities. Me, at a few weeks away from 83, may not see it. In any event, reality will swallow up fiction. I figured I'd give a heads-up. If you'd rather I didn't, I'll comply.
I don't disagree with you to the degree that George R.R. Martin has said GOT isn't any more misogynistic than reality (I suppose it depends on whether or not we need to depict reality in fiction, which is a separate kind of conversation, but which predicates these kinds of judgments — though I don't believe he depicts medieval reality).
Then again, I also don't limit my reading so that I don't limit my capacity to critique. I understand the impulse, however.

I’m glad you like the way I think, Steve. Thanks for restacking the post
I am not quite sure how this pertains to the post, Steve.

It's just that I like the way you think.
GRR Martin is a self proclaimed misogynistic author and I would never ever read ANYTHING the eejit writes

I read anything and everything Lancelot. I heard him proclaim that both in a post and on Oprah decades ago
Oh that he actively _tries_ to make it misogynistic? Or that he's depicting the world?
